for me, this competes with using a loftier-terminate Android Tv set box (there'due south a $xc one based on the core A7x S922X). This i is more hackable hardware and software-wise, has endless Os updates and an splendid support community. The Android box is more familiar and has a lot more native apps for regular users (incl. MS Role, Skype, plenty of adept games...). For me, I'd get a Pi. For most users, Android.
I've got a lot of little raspberry pi appliances I've put together. The old style DIY lath formfactor is great for that. If this makes a good enough desktop for younger kids or kiosk environments it more than justifies its existence.
